I like the terrain and the water a lot. I think the surfacing could use some more, and I don't like the sky so much

Excellent terrain and water, Yes your surface could use more work, But the atmos is interesting. Very nice work over all.

Thanks for the useful feedback on this one. You all raise valid points. I plan to rework this one and repost. We'll see how that one goes :-) Thanks again!!

I'd echo a few of the aforementioned points, but it looks like they already were well taken. One more thing - NO 3D CLOUDS. The results are always iffy at best. Water is kickass, BTW - but you knew I'd say that...

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I appreciate the honesty :-). I am working on another version of this particular image. Cooking in the "render oven" now...

I was reading the comments as I was downloading the picture, and thinking that your clouds must be really awful! Well, they're not. They need work, but it is possible to get good 3D clouds. I use them every so once in awhile. Keep experimenting with them. Usually they work best if they are no taller than 2 or 3. When you get what you want, use them in an image publicly. In the meantime, also look at lots of pictures of clouds. You can find plenty on my web site, which is linked in as sponsor. They're on the Arizona page. Wonderful terrain and water.
