Description

I like to show this detail to point you to a particular thing. The architect here uses ceramic tiles of different colors. Again this is a typical technique of the styles of that age (Liberty, Art NOuveau etc.) but the interesting thing here, is that he used it in a "post-impressionist" way, that is, colors that are only slightly different, but seen from a distance, they fuse together in the impression of a single color, but less "static" and more vivid than a flat single color. If you think about it, that's also how pixels look in extreme enlargement in digital images. I find these coincidences very interesting! Especially since you realize that this building was created some 60 years before the word "pixel" meant anything for most of us (not to mention the POst-Impressionism, which came with almost 100 years in advance!). But I think that the fact that this technique is used in a building (instead of a more usually done painting) makes it most interesting. Thanks for viewing :-)

That is intriguing! I never would have thought of that but you are so right! If the building is 'adopted' will they do any restoration work?

If this building ever falls down, your photo record of its details will be invaluable!! This is a great documentary series you've got going here.
