Description

Excerpt from an interview with a disgruntled fly: Environaut: So I hear you and other flies are upset with the bees? Fly: Yeah, those damn bees get in all the good shots. All the photographers want to take pictures of the bees, nevermind us poor flies! E: Why is that? F: Those bees get all the good flowers...I mean, they got stingers and all...they force us poor little flies to stay away. All we get to sit on are these tiny shrub flowers! Oh, and the bees are soooo good for gardens (sarcasm in voice)...they pollinate all the pretty flowers...make the f***** vegetables grow!! What about us flies!!! E: I can sense the bitterness. Why don't you tell me about the value of flies? It may help others want to take more pictures of you. F: Ahem, of course...sorry about that little outburst (sheepish grin). Well, us flies are so valuable as creatures...we help decompose dead animals so they don't lie around and stink for so long. We clean up a lot of garbage! We're like your garbagemen, who clean up after the rest of you. Now where would you be without them? E: Very true, wonderful insight. What about your cousins, the tse-tse and horse flies? They don't seem so nice. F: They're damn rebels!! I don't want to talk about them! Us poor little black flies are harmless...those cousins of mine give us a bad name! ***End of transcript*** I took this photo in one of our gardens on a 'Magic Carpet' Spirea bush with my Canon Powershot A70. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for viewing and commenting!! --Mike
