Description

Created using Vue4/4Vue4 Prof Demo/Poser and Photoshop Thanks to all who give me such encouraging words ;o) INTERESTING THOUGHT: I always wondered about the Forbidden Fruit. The Bible does not describe what fruit it was, but there seems to be a myth that it is an apple....who started this myth?!?....Why does so many people (even christians) believe it...any answers?

The tradition of an apple comes from early christian artists depicting the scene with an apple... not knowing what the fruit was, a common one was arbitrarily chosen. The apple image then was echoed through art history. What it looks like exactly is one of God's purposeful mysteries... Eden, and all its beauty, is sealed off from us until Christ returns! We can only wonder at the true beauty of paradise and feebly compare it to the best things this earth has to offer. (Nice image by the way!)

Outstanding image! I have to think that the fruit probably does not exist today - and won't until Christ returns in glory. I agree with servo about the origins of the apple and the feeble comparison to the best this cursed planet has to offer. Vote

Well done Mark! As servo and reflash indicated, it is highly unlikely that the tree is available at this time. The three theories I'm aware of are 1. that it was destroyed in the flood, 2. that it was removed to Heaven, and 3. that it is still on earth somewhere, but that the angels with flaming swords still guard it, so there's no way any human will ever get near it. As I understand it, the early Christian belief about the fruit was that it was a pomegranate. Regardless, I think God can take care of both trees quite well (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of eternal life which they had not yet eaten from). Keep up the good work!

hey mark that is real cool the way that you depict the fruit from the tree of good and evil, a deep rich color. Unlike any fruit available today. Also, the apple has it's origins in pagan worship. i can;t remember right now what it was but as christianity spread, unfortunatly we picked up some of the traditions of the world. Ahhh here it is "Apple- Druid sacred tree, fruit cut into 3 sections and rubbed on warts. Bury the pieces to remove the warts" this occured as Christianty absorbed some of the worlds religions. And the ruling heads of those times turned a blind eye, with the intent to gather more followers of christ. Wonder what he thought about that?

No idea about the apple origin but I do like the image very much. Agree with CrownPrince, the rich colours contribute so much to the composition. Panels look great. Minor niggle: the first text box isn't white, the beige jars with the vibrancy of the other colours.

I have also heard that, originally, it was thought to be a pomegranate. I tend to think in very practical terms, and I strongly suspect that the apple was chosen because it can be a bright red, which shows up well in paintings. By the way, were you aware that DC Comics published a Treasury Edition comic book called The Bible back in the mid-1970s? I have it and it adapts the first part of Genesis, including the Creation Story, The Fall of Man, Cain and Able, and ends with Moses. Its really very good and worth hunting ebay for.
