Description

Justin "Jut" Bonshor of Victims Of Noise at Piccadilly Circus, London, 00:42 on 13-06-2004 Nikon Coolpix 4500 - no postwork of any kind here My long-time friends VON asked me to visit them at their new home in Golders Green and take new photos of them for promotional material. They wanted to break away from convention where possible and go for locational atmospherics, off-the-cuff photography and a sense of movement rather than stiff composed poses... as with all such experiments, some shots worked and some didn't at all, but even if this shot doesn't get used I still like its sense of movement on an abstract level. I hate flash as the results are always horribly boring, and would rather have motion-blurring from longer exposures any day... thankfully the lads have always agreed with me! Thanks for your feedback and critique... and thanks to VON for great company and hospitality :-)

a Jut pirouette in London town! expressive fun... :] as long as they don't have to be recognized in their promotion then sure why not :]

I am suprised that there aren't more comments. Great balance here. You have also maintained perspective in the streaking blur of lights. I like this.

I love this! Wonderful effects from just right lasting exposure. The lights have become birds, and the dancer dances like spelled:-) And this reminds of the party of Gregors' and mine L. Thanks for this inspiring photo!!!!

I like the motion blur.... I really dislike the washed out look that results from the use of flash.... nice shot!

Oh god yeah... in the whole session I tried three shots on flash, and they all looked utterly boring and awful! Unnatural too - the only time people look like that is for a split second when lightning flashes.

Yes, I agree. This motion blur gives it great energy and a sense of excitement. However, I would have liked to have seen the same shot taken using a tripod, so that only the figure is blurred. It would have been interesting to compare :-). Anyway, well done!

Well I'm not gonna lug a tripod around London with me. Anyone would think I'm a pro or something ;-)

Great image Jim, full of life and movement you have captured the bright lights and the buzz of the whole place in this one frame, not sure about the pose, is he doing a pirouette LOL :0 )

No, he was just moving, he wasn't posing at all, I just happened to point and shoot ;-)
