Description

Strange pov: I wanted to show all elements of the planet, coz they're mine! Including the water this time! Still playing with displacements, including this time using a bitmap for the wet sandbar displacement. tfv&c

Sand bars are really neat and I like sutle effect of the variances of the sand. Only concern unless it is intential is that the bars are really straight. In real life, I not sure they will be all that striaght.

He Eoin, interesting surfaces. I think the displacement is a bit too strong for a sandbar. Looks a bit too rough to me, less is more here. The waves around the sandbar are not irregular enough for a naturally touch. As you wrote, you are still experimenting with displ. mapping. Hope to see more of your pictures regarding this method! My 2cents ...

I could never come up with something like this so i have deep respect for those who try. I think once your sand is a bit more wavy you'll have a real winner on your hands. Great so far :)

Fantasy becomes reality putting aside considerations of error as a limiting factor. Yes, I would like to be there and fly over to see this possible landing site for my Cessna Staionaire 206 on floats.

Looks cool. Only thing I would say is to make the breaking waves (or sandbar ripples - whatever) less uniform and more random.
