Awwwww...how cute. I also like your image too; however I like to point out to you of your usage of shadow/darkness. Usually they are indicators of "dark" or "mystery." You know, in those old black and white films, the shodows indicate who the villains are. Your image indicates that Amanda Jane is mysterious on the contrary she is a puppy and friendly and warm. You know? :-) I hope this helps. The image in a well-lit condition would compliment your scene.

This darkness does a great job removing all distractions, the diagonal band of light runs us right across the subject, if mounted on a black board a good print would make it seem this nap is all there is in the Infinite, black is always a background that makes a photo pop, and perhaps the darkness is simply the mystery of what dogs experience in sleep. Depth of field is suitable, the colours are excellent whether true life or not, this has a richness of a professional portrait ... I can't get over that little hairdo over between her eyes!

I think this image is absolutely gorgeous... lol Darkness, shadows, & all. And anyway the dog is so well lit it stands as the center of attention which I think is great. I didn't have any sense of mystery or darkness when I saw the photo, I just thought 'Great photo'... lol Nice image. And I have to agree with WhiteStag about the little hairdo... too cute!

My dog,the love of my life just died. I thought looking at this would be painful. instead it reminds me of how life can be wonderful and eventually the pain will ease a lttle. I hope I find another living creature like your amanda jane or my gerard to share my life with. I think the category should be "photography and portraits"instead of "animals". This is really a portrait cause it's an intimate portrayal of this lovely dog. The photograph doesn't look like a rookie shot it. Your dog pops out of the screen. It almost looks 3 dimmensional. Nice composition and perspective as well. Thanks for this.
