Description

This is a 513 x 513 DEM file of Big Bend, Utah. The pixel aspect ratio was changed from 1 to .5. This in effect reduces the height of the terrain. The terrain was rendered at 4000 x 3000 and compressed and sharpened in IrfanView. The file was compressed to 2000 x 1500 and sharpened at 10%. The file was compressed again to 1024 x 768 and sharpened again twice at 10% each and saved as a .jpg file. The file was taken into PSP7 using the 'clone brush' to eliminate sharp angles and straight lines; also, to break up the straight lines in the strata. Thanks to JPSoft for his coaching on the use of PSP7. Thank you for visiting; and, for your comments and suggestions. Enjoy...!

Your postwork can only stun a newbie like me, but the result is superb. I particularly like the sky, it's such an outstanding feature in your render, but I also love the water, the haze, the overall tone-range and the atmosphere you created. I just love it all.

I am surprised that the sky endured the many jpeg compressions without banding. Surprised and happy; this is an excellent work.

Superb in every way, Bob! I would never have believed this is a 513 terrain... (BTW I detest DEMs for the angles they produce) ...it looks immense! A lot of time & thought went into this work, I can tell. I also see you took my hints on the water settings - Bravo!
