Description

I know that this is not the 2D gallery; that I should be posting a work in MaYA. Actually this IS a MaYA project. But in sketch stage. My whole worry was that I was having a hard time getting somewhere and I prefferd the work to be more what viewed by those that know something about MaYA and post comments or tips accordingly (instead of simple "It is ours... we want it..." type recreational posts). This is also suppose to be for a statue (yeah again!). Of the good and bad sides of gollum. This layout is from a collection of many. The thing special about this set is that I have both the first (the biggest head on the left) and last sketches of trying to draw the charecter. I must say that he is NOT as easy to draw as one would expect. I had to do a serious amount of try outs to get even what you see here! (Luckily I tend to fix things up in the modeling process) He either kept looking like Freeza or a mixture of freeza and the Phantom of the Opera! While trying to prepare the modeling sheets front view here I ended up doing a sort of wireframe. It's because: with the many aspects of the charecter, it was not possible to be expressed without shading. So I went for a habbit I gained since my first anatomy book from VanDerpool. To slice the charecter or to draw along the surface of it. Like extracting contours in Rhino I don't know how I ended up to filling the whole face with a cage but well one thing led to another. So don't look too harsh for a topology. If somethings DO seem right it is mostly out of habbit of trying to fit the mesh into quads. And that the 'edge loop'ish aprouch became some what instinctal. (Hey you have to give it to me though .. got a VERY steady hand!) Thank you so much for viewing. ANY sudgestions would be VERY aprechiated.

Thank you all for your kind words. The project went on for a week work more after this. Not really to a stage of "completed"; as I had many personal matters to attend to (And why I am replying/trying to post so late). I sometimes happen to have problems uploading here. Soo well expect a post some time soon if not today this time!
