Alia has just received from her master, Vittorio, the gift of two Shamsirs (scimitars)forged by Spanish masters of the famed Toledo steel. In his small antechamber, where he is playing chess with his ancient friend Casseadorus, she dances with them, testing their weight and balance while Persephone watches from the window, lust in her eyes. Alia is full of rapture, in love with the way they move and feel in her hands. Her hair is free, flowing in the air as her body arcs, stubbornly refusing to reflect light as always. Vittorio watches on, the queen in his hand forgotten as Casseadorus makes his move. Little does Alia know how handy these weapons will be... in a matter of hours in fact, she will be grateful for the silver worked into the Damascene blades......
