Many thanks for your comments. I've been playing with atmosphere and lighting in Poser 5. This is a single spotlight, atmosphere checked On and Volume Density at about 0.005 Nerd3d.com has an excellent tutorial here http://www.nerd3d.com/Tutorial/Atmosphere/Atmosphere.htm
