Description
Not sure what this is, but I encountered it along a back road in the Sequoia National Forest (justs below the National Park). There were a number of these growing in shaded areas around the bases of some of the pine trees. A number of "creative" interpretations have been offered!

Looks as if the ever unpopular, but growing splinter group known as "PBGCS" (Professional Bubble Gum Chewers' Society")has made their presence known again. Beware of this group! They combine and discard their passion in the most inconspicuos locations just to cause this kind of havoc!
