Description

This is a WIP of a glass using no .itx's but modelling to create the distortions. The modelling was a bit complex, I made 1 section and replicated it around the y axis 12 times, cleaned it up and made sure all double points were joined, extruded twice, from the top and bottom[once each] to get the lip and base, then added the bottom and extruded the whole open cylinder to get the wall thickness. When extruded and before the inside was moved into position I removed the modelling from the inside by selecting, by section, all the modelled points and Control-j'ed them, then scaled the interior down and moved the points into position inside the outsides as it were.Comments/suggestions welcome...enjoy and thanx for looking............

12 sides is too low mate, 36 is a nice number of sides for a glass.

Actually,it depends on the glass in front of you and the one in front of me had 24 panels,so to deny you your point, there are in fact 24 sides on this glass, every other one is plain, and the edges that are hardened are done on purpose. If you would be so kind, I'd really like to see what you can do with this idea [I learn better from images than words], as it is a WIP and any constuction ideas would be welcome. Thanx for commenting....peace bobbystahr

Hard to tell what the actual geometry looks like with the refractions everywhere, but wouldn't this have been much simpler to model in the forms editor?

Lahl, aaargh...the forms editor..for some reason it turns me into a bumbling idiot...never have come to grips with it..the outside of the glass is cut with a groove [ the part i modelled] as in cut class with the groove appearing in every othe panel.12 times around the circle, and yes I'm planning a better render if I ever get my other computer running...biught a fan, found the screws fro the old one were too short, and the new ond DID NOT include screws...why oh why do they DO that?...humph Thanx for checking this out .
