Description
Yes, the atmosphere should've burned completely away by this time, but you couldn't see the landforms otherwise. Besides, what's a science fiction scene without a glaring science mistake?

Burned away? Depends on what the planet was from the start. If it was a huge gaseous planet, you would have remaining burned core (Think thats called a called chtonian planet)left over from the Jupiter class world when all gases have been boiled off, just like in this image.

True about the gas giant sort of planet, but I was thinking more Earthlike. --And once I saw that particular sun I knew I had to use it in something! Neat stuff in 2.0
