Maybe a finer texture would work better; as it is, it is too harsh, I'm not too keen on it. Especially knowing what you're capable of :)

This is great stuff. Smoothing could help, but it would change the picture's chalk like feel. Love it !!

It's a wonderful concept, Ian. I, too, have a few small doubts about the texture...not that it's too harsh or rough, but that it is an 'off the shelf' texture, sort of common. I like it's boldness and daring!

Thanks for all the comments, guys. Yes, I'm aware that the texture was a bit of a risk (it WAS intentional), and that it was a little "common", but... it just felt right. I like this piece quite a lot because it's a step away from my usual work.

All the same, I do appreciate you guys taking the time to comment.
