Description
The sun concaved Parry arc is a not very common Halo effect. It's sometimes visible, when there is also a very bright Upper tangent arc in the sky. The Parry arc in the picture is the halo on the top and the Upper tangent arc is the lower one. Both are a result of horizontal orientated ice crystals. The parry arc becomes only visible, when also the sides of the crystals have a special orientation. This doesn't happen very often.
You may ask, if there is also a sunvex (sun convex) Parry arc. This one exists, but it's extremly rare. It just can be seen if the sun elevation is lower then 10
