Description

Angband - the iron fortress of Morgoth, the dark lord of the first age of Middle-Earth. Unlike Mordor and other places in Tolkien's Middle-Earth there seem to exist very few illustrations of Angband and other locations in Beleriand. This is how I imagine it to be when I read the Silmarillion. Feel free to comment if you think I've got it all wrong :) Update: As someone pointed out the previous image was way to dark... also, I added the fires. Thanks

Great image, I remember trying to read The Silmarilion as a kid and I couldn't follow it, should probably give it another try now that my attention span is more capable of handling it.

I happen to be rereading the Silmarillion at the moment, and have just gotten to the part where Melkor is rebuilding Angband. A timely image indeed, and very well done.

synchronicity..I'm struggling through the Silmarillion as well, it's kinda hard to tell from what the prose has, but it looks feasible to me..;)
