Description

Hi gang! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!! I was going through the pictures we took this weekend, at my dads home in northern Minnesota. And it was obvious to me that a "Theme" was presenting itself. I had a bunch of pictures of birds, so I put together this quick collage of birds of the Crow Wing Lakes. From Left to right: Top Left, a Bald Eagle! That flew right over our heads, but I was too slow to catch it, until it was already over the lake. Note the dark body, and white tail feathers. Bottom left, don't know..a Swallow?? Second from the left, an owl, a Barred Owl? Not sure, it flew over the road and landed in a tree, I raced back to my dad's log home to grab my camera. This camera doesn't have a good zoom (Sorry) planning to get a Nikon D70 in the Fall. Third from the left, a Chickadee coming out of it's nest in a hollow tree. Two frames from a short video. Far right, not sure, some kind of hawk?? It was as big as a big Red Tail Hawk, but the markings are different. Any ideas?? And below is a picture of the water near the shore, and if you look closely you can see Heron tracks, as the Heron walked the shoreline looking for minnows! Worked on one of my bigger projects for a couple hours, but not really in the mood. Have a great Monday!! ;)

Thanks folks! I think we confirmed the owl is a Barred Owl. Thanks Heidi for the link! I think the hawk most closely resembles a Ferruginous Hawk. Got some bird lover here ay!
