The Power Of One
Some memories
Call forth such emotion
As to cause words to flow;
Sweet and honeyed
Begging the poet to linger
And delight
Over the timeless morsels
Of words and image
Other memories, too,
Call forth a powerful emotion
Where words fail to express
The pain and cacophony
Of each weighted recollection
Leaving the poet stuck,
Knee deep, in a mental quagmire
Where they can neither retreat
Nor escape
It is here that I sit, tear-stained and lost,
Bound to a memory I cannot forget
