Description

This temple site is Baijnath in the state of Uttranchal (IN THE HIMALAYAS), India. It was built in 1012 AD and the story goes that one ruler built this temple in one day using 86000 craftsman starting from Sunrise to Sunset. The temple was left as it was at Sunset and never attempted to be imporved. The temple and it's structure today is in a sort of lean position. Neither the floor is straight nor the structures. It has a unique beauty to it. As interesting is the history of the place there is a bit of it which has been repaired mercilessly by the temple authoritys or the State, dunno which. They had killed the original beauty of it. Hence , this image does carry a bit of post work to conceal what din't appeal to me in it's enviorenment. I shall post few more shots from diff angles in future. Thanks for your view and Comments. :O)) SNAKEY

OMG...this is such an incredible place!!! Just breathtaking! I love the bricks and the architecture! And i so much appreciate your history about this place. I have always been so much in awe with the people who lived in these early eras. They were so incredibly smart and innovative! They did all this without the benefit of education and books. Mason apprentices here in the states have gone to school for 4 years. These highly talented people just did it! If i could have the chance to go here and touch these bricks and view this incredible beauty...anyway, i can't wait to see more! vote and into favs!
