One of the first things I noticed about Minnesota (long distance, and from a collection of Minnesotans) was that every single one of them was wearing glasses all the time. This was nigh upon forty years ago. Didn't say anything to anybody, but was thinking to myself"This does not compute". Is the eyesight there that bad and so early? This sample also all thought their state was very CLEAN (not like, say, Chicago). Whale, later buttermilk, canoes, big hotels, and so forth, BIG University medical center (optometrists too?). Hmmm, and then there was the topic of Injuns. Still talking to myself, hanging fire....
