Description
This is a view of Bhimtal. Bhim is a legendary figure from the Mahabharata epic and 'tal' in general refers to 'Talab' meaning Lake.
How it got it's name is a diff story but this lake is situated at a height of over 3000 ft above sea level. It's a massive enough lake. The irrigation Department is currently using the lake water for irrigation and drinking water supply as the Monsoon is failing this year. Even otherwise during the Summer months the water is used for the above purposes and when it rains the Lake reaches its normal level. The water source for this lake is natural underground spring and rain water which flows from the mountains. At the Centre it is 120 fts Deep.
Boating is allowed in the lake but no fishing (even though I notice that the boatmen use a nylon wire to fish)
The lake is Green in color mostly because of the surrounding mountains.
It is a beautiful place. In the center of the lake was a rock which has been converted into a Restaurant. If you notice on the back of the Hotel you can see the cloud moving in. Soon after this shot, nothing was visible but the cloud entering the rooms.
