Description

STARE INTO THE EYES OF THE HYPNOTOAD AND SEND $100 TO...

Oh wait, it's not the hypno-toad. It's just some frog. I'm not sure what kind, since I'm not a herpetologist nor do I have any books on the subject. Anyhow this critter was sunning itself on the Des Plaines River trail somewhere in Wadsworth, IL. Figured I'd take a picture and then shoo it out of the way so nobody on bikes or horseback would mush it.

Picture taken with Pentax ZX-M camera (Nuthin' fancy. Just your basic manual SLR.)

Where I come from that would be identified by a kid as a leopard frog. I'm not from Illinois though. The discs behind it's eyes that are it's ears look underdeveloped in this individual. Perhaps I have not seen a leopard frog in a long time and bullfrog is making my memory identification structure ambiguous. He seems to guard his shadow well.
