Description
Hey there! Making anime-style artwork isn't normally my style, infact, this is my first piece. I spent about 7 - 8 hours in total on it though, especially since I had to try out different techniques and figure out how to make these sorts of things!
This portrait is for a girl I know, called Holly Houston. I put the effort into this for her, as an apology for the idiot I've been.
Here's what happened:
Well, I'm 14 y'see. Holly invited me to town with her and a few of her friends, to which I agreed upon. Later on that day, I was invited to a different town by another girl (unnamed). I foolishly said "ok" to that one too. It wasn't quite like that, but...yeah It was stupid. So...saturday morning came, and this other girl kept ringing me and making sure I went etc. etc.
I ended up texting holly telling her I couldn't goto town anymore, but didn't say why. This text message woke her up :o She was annoyed that I'd "blown her off", and didn't text back.
Ugh...I text her later on asking if she could at least speak to me, but this text mesage was sent during a film...and her phone went off. She was pretty pissed off at that too. Anyway, I went to a party after all that, came home, went online and was told by her friend that she's now got a boyfriend. Damn. I don't know why I went to town with this other girl anyway, I don't even like her that much!!
Me and holly talked it over and I think we came to some sort of agreement, I said I was sorry. Just "sorry" doesn't always make it up to people, so I decided to spend maybe 7 hours (not sure how long this actually took) making a portrait of her, to say I'm sorry. I've yet to show her, but I hope she appreciates it.
Here's how I made it:
- Sketched it out on paper
-Scanned it in, re-printed it in a light grey colour
-Went over it in an ink-pen
-Scanned it in again
-Began "digitally enhancing" it, haha
-Created a layer for each segment and coloured it all in with solid colours
-Touched it up around the edges
-Edited out rough bits to make it smooth
-Colour Shaded it all in, which took a very long time. This gave it a 3d look, sort of.
-Created the eyes (took a while...hehe)
-Made a light shadow around the outside of the whole work
-Added the glittery star bits (AKA "Pixie Dust")
-Created a border, and added the writing
-Edited any final errors.
-Took a step back, and looked at the whole piece

I'm Holly will absolutly love it so much that she would never want to let go of it (but of course would if it meant hanging it on her wall).
