Description
This Hornet-hoverfly is the biggest hoverfly in Europe. Maybe she's even the biggest-one in the world, dunno? She does a good mimic-job on the largest wasp of Europe! She has even coloured wings like the Hornet. If she flies she tries to produce the same buzzing noise. Although her frightening size of 2 to 2.5 cm., she is quite harmless as you can see on the photo :)
