Wonderful! I wish I could be there... Though, on the other hand, it's just deepened my "no holidays this year" depression.. well done Niutek :(

@pAveeq - there are limits to good things that can happen to one person in one year, you know... isn't it enough to get a new apartment, new job and a beautiful fiancee??? :D

Do you know ...Elba was enlivened constantly during Napoleon's residence by tourists who went out of their way to see the little fella! And the majority of these curious folks were ...Englishmen! Apparently, the little Corsican loved talking freely with them - receiving them at his house, and letting them carry off bits of stone, or even brick, from his premises as souvenirs. Eventually he left the island, I think after some 100 days, whereupon some time later he started a battle, with vastly superior numbers of soldiers on his side! Of course, he hadn't fought against the greatest tactical soldier of all time until then ...and the Duke of Wellington soon put him in his place! If it hadn't been for the Great Duke I'd probably be saying qui and pardon mademoiselle, amongst other things right now! Your lovely shot here brings this all flooding back to me, and I thought I'd jump in with the history lesson before that DarkestAngel chappie did! Regards M. :)))

For all those who didn't quite get what the "bloody R3MAF" has been so eloquently talking about - Elba was Napoleon Bonaparte's prison. A very beautiful and quite spacious one. A true paradise from where I was standing... hence the title :)))

Lovely prison and great POV. But the horizon is a little lop-sided... Maybe you can fix it with photoshop... :)

@bogomil - I could try, even though I'm not that good at potatoshopping but... I like it this way... you know, a touch of crazy irregularity is fun sometimes :)))

I actually like the horizon tilt because it keeps your eye looking at what is in the picture, so that you look along the horizon to the angled hillside and down the rocks. I can't imagine why Napoleon wanted to leave such a gorgeous place--maybe he was out of sunscreen;-))
