BobbyStahr aka Robert Purves was seduced into computers late in life(age 45) by a free Amiga 1000 that I needed to transcribe music with. When that was done one thing led to another and 18 months later due to a need for speed and Imagine porting over I jumped to a pc. Never looked back happy to say. I play no games, have no business software, just art and music. BIO I use Imagine a lot, Photoshop quite a bit, Vue6I PLE a bit also, and have played a bit with the free ver. of Cinema4D, and am recently enamored of the new TG 3 Free. I also write copious amounts of music in an awesome and inexpensive music writing software called MelodyAssistant, available at http://www.myriad-online.com The hyphen is part of the URL. Highly reccomended to anyone, musician or not. I got into art from sports at an early age when I discovered I was more into cooperation than competition...my mission statement is" Never go straight.....Go Forward...."

I like this texture. It's like you can make out individual trees. Beautiful job.

I really like the background picture. Did you try different cloud size ? I think you could improve the picture a lot by splitting the foreground mountains and applying a more detailed map. The problem with huge mapping is that it always become blurry near the camera. Another suggestion : Add some "splotches" of white snow with hard edges on the top of the mountain. I don't like much the dirty-noisy snow that we can see on this and on many other landscape picture. Of course, it is my personnal taste and if you like it so, then it is good for mee too :)

Actually Manu, the texture that offends you is actually a badly scaled RJJ[Rjjdirtbump.itx] that I didn't notice until the render finished as it's in the fore ground, and the snow on the mtn. tops is muted due to the sun causing cloud shadows on it generated by the light passing thru a cloud layer and some volumetrics. I agree I should have eliminated the "noisy trees" in the snow but wanted to see the effect...this is an idea in evolution so stay tunes...i WILL create a perfect scape soon.....LOL

Oh, I like the shadows!

thanx Tien,...do able with 2.0 as the main ones are cast with clouds.itx...volume casts very subtle and not always apparent shadows on this scale.
