Description

I had a skunk around my place. Was coming for the cat food. I smoke out side so at night I go out and think it was the black cat coming up till I see the white on it so I yell or go back inside. Then I was seeing it more and more far away and throw things at it to get it to run off. But it would go around and comeback from the other side of the house. This went on about 3 weeks and then I did not see the skunk so was happy. Well about another month or so I went out to get the mail and was at the gate when I seen the skunk again and another 8 or 9 baby skunks coming. I turn and came back into the house. Got my camera and went back out. Most did not come out because it was my old film camera and it does not work in the dark in the auto mode. Seen them all again a couple days later as soon as I open the door. Just eatting all the cat food. I did get some better pictures that time from the door way. Then I went out in the yard. They were all so very cute. The babys would just come right up to you too. I wanted to keep one if I knew how to get one and fix then. But after another couple of days they were all gone. Guess the mother had the baby close by so was just eating the cat food because she needed the food. Once all the babys started walking they all went back home. They were all so cute. Wish I could of keep one for a pet. But I did not know how to go about getting one or if they would spray me. I know the babys were coming up to me and I may of even been able to pet them but I was not going to try it in case they sprayed me.

Aren't they just the cutest things!! It's too bad they have the greatest defense mechanism in the animal kingdom. I hear they make great pets. And I've heard that if you have them from a baby you don't even have to get their scent glands removed ... you just have to make sure you never, ever, startle them ... lol. Great picture!!

I really wanted to pet them too. :) Even watching them walk is so cute. But I know they make good pets. I really don't even they they would of sprayed me either. The mom was just wanted food and knew where to find it. If she feared me she would not have been so hard headed all the times I tried to run her off before I knew about the babys. Plus the babys had no fear at all because they wanted to come right up to me. I was the one that had a fear that maybe they would spray me. And if they did spray me would I know. Yea I know what your thinking but I lost my smell in 95 so I can't smell so would the smell be so bad I could smell it and if I did would it smell bad or what? :) :)

No I was not really scared at all. They or just the mom would try to get away first. It she could not get away and then was feeling there was no way out then I may of been on trouble.

But they were sooooo cute maggiemai and was walking up to me. I was not that brave with the babies because I did back off when they got a foot or so from me. But they were so cute. If I knew how to catch one and if I would not get srayed by a baby I would of taken one as a pet and had it fixed.
