Howdy Y'all. My name is Big Bill McBuckley, but my friends call me Bubba. I've been around a lo-o-ong time and I've played with the greatest. So I'm playin' at the Grand Ole Opry a while back and some PR fella thinks it's a great idea to have me sing with this young lady named Ashley Jo Pillowfluffer. She's supposed to be the hottest up and coming star around. I get introduced to this girl and I ask her how long she'd been singing Country/Western. She looks at her nails and says, "I don't sing Country/Western." Her agent leans in and says that she sings "Country". I didn't know any of the songs she does and she didn't know any of mine. She didn't know any Hank Williams tunes, nothing by George Jones. No Patsy Cline, no Loretta, nothing by Chet. So I asked her if she knew any of the classics and she shrugs. "Sure. How about Achey Breaky Heart?" I gulped and had to bite my tongue. Taught her a simple song with a lot of la-la-la's in it and right afterward, I walked off the stage and retired. *** disclaimer: I don't follow Country music much, but I appreciate the old-timers of Country Western with a sense of history. I'm not condemning the new stuff, just being a wiseass. It does strike me that most new Country music is better fit for Las Vegas, than Nashville.
