Description

I got fascinated with architecture and structures again after seeing this terrific site about Tall Buildings. Thought I'd go for 50-60 floors, and really slender, about 1:12. Check out "Highcliff and the Summit". I've visited Hong Kong twice, and such places make good subjects! -*- The modeling was straightforward (but big) boolean shapes, with some curved parts from Carrara. The one that looks like cross-straps, is 32 copies of twisted columns, real geometry and not a transparent material. Same with the curved elbows, which hold escalators, lots of escalators! So far I've made four renders, day and night from different points, wide and tall formats. This is one of the intermediate renders: wide and night. Later I did more with the lights and changed the point of view to expose more detail in the courtyard. -*- Thanks for cruising by!

Wow love the lighting and the textures used. All work together to give it an industrial feel. Unusual use of some, but they work!

Fantastic...the lighting of the tall slender structures is excellent and actually looks photo real. The dark blue night sky was a great choise too.

Fantastic render. Superb modeling. THe idea is terrific and the POV really captures the magnificance of the structure. All this and the lighting gets my vote---twice :)

Just beautiful, Jim. I see that we share, among other things, also the passion for tall buildings...
