Description

This is my first time posting on this site. This is my work in progress... painted using Photoshop CS. I think I messed up the eyes, though... they're just barely too small. My friend (Inhuman) told me abt this site. Check out his work... Cool stuff! I love the things that people post on here. There's a ton of creativity and their skills are awesome! Thanks for viewing. Please feel free to post comments/suggestions. They'd be much appreciated.

Nice first try. I think that perhaps the eyes are not sitting in the centre of the face and this is making the baby look a bit boss-eyed. I would also try using a softer brush for the skin tones (are you using a graphics tablet or a mouse?...using a pressure sensitive tablet makes Photoshop a doddle when doing delicate work.)

I'm using a mouse. Never used a graphic tablet, but if you can recommend one, I'd be one step wiser. And the eyes do seem to be a bit close together...maybe not too small. I'll edit and hopefully on my next post it'll look better. Thanks for your post.

hey welcome to renderosity!! it's not often we get to see a work in progress (unless it's in a forum), it's interesting to me as a painter so see how a digital 2D image is put together - not that much different to an oil painting actualy, except less mess!! i think you have got the mouth shape and colours spot on and the shading around the cheeks and neck look acurate. i think the eye on the right of the picture may need to go a little further to the right, and some shadeing between that eye and the nose might make it look better too. or prehaps the eyes are fine and the right side of the head is too large... it is very hard to pin down exactly what doesn't fit about this image without seeing the original (if there is one), but i hope my suggestions help you figure out how to perfect this. it's a beautiful image and i look forward to seeing the finished piece.

Definitely get a graphics tablet. Get me one too. It's sad that unless an image contains nudity of some sort, not many people look at it. People lose out on the real concept of beauty and art. You're doing a great job capturing the heart of a babys innocence. I know this will look great when you finish it. Do it soon, before your own new child starts causing you too much sleep deprivation. Keep up the excellent work, my friend.
