Description

This moth(?) made a brief landing in front of me the other day. I took 8 shots and the 8th shot turned out okay. I never use a tripod so I usually have 1 clear shot out of a few.

I think I'm in love with this moth (and the flower as well!!!!!!!!!!!) I don't think i ever saw a more beautiful one!!! The lighting just makes this shot, IMO!!! I love that light shining on its back and somewhat through his wings. And you really captured its face...so sweet and gentle! and that flower...my gosh, it's just so magnificent!!!! I reminds me of mangos sliced very thinly...i'm ready to take a bite!!! Excellent & big wows!!!!! vote!

Awesome shot there Matt !! No, its a butterfly of the family Hesperiidae. Im pretty sure its a Hessex Skipper (Thymelicus lineola) but it could also be T. sylvestris or T. acteon. Excelent work !! V The flower is gorgeous too !! :o)

Going by book definition this should be a buttfly..... if the antenna has a round blob on the end its a buttfly and if its straight like a straw then it's a moth. As for the 8th shot..... I think you were quite lucky. It's not something strange to you alone....I sometimes get the best in the 18th shot....so, this sure has come out lucky good in the 8th. Nice one mate.:O))

Great shot Matt yep it is a butty not a moth it is Native to The British Isles the Essex Skipper So called after the county of Essex but found as far as Canada too it seems Enmos gives the correct latin name Thymelicus Lineola

I never use a tripod either... which is pretty much because I don't have one... still, I don't think I need it - I always take just one shot of anything I like and that's it. Love this one - the colors are fantastic and the little moth looks very cute :))

What a stunning image Matt! Excellent! And who says you have to use a tripod? huh? huh? ;) I use one for low light only, usually my sunsets or sunrises. Excellent work here! :)
