Here is an updated version of the picture posted earlier this week. I was not satisfied with the light and shadows in the attic. Thanks to MikeJ for his idea about removing the influence of the 'sunlight' outside the attic. That was the origin of the problem.

Lighting definitely could use work. Also, just since you seem to strive for detail, fix the chessboard to an appropriate layout. See my picture 'insomniac' for C.S. Lewis' chess game. The shooka is a nice touch.

Alice is from "Rubio's room" (fantastic japanese site with ISOP and Kozaburo). The cat is the standard poser cat with a texture from the free area. Animals are from 3D cafe. I don't remembered where the attic model comes from. The whole thing is rendered in Vue 4.
