Description

Carlsberg dont do Sci-fi battles but if they did they would have probably done the battle of Hoth... What imagination on the part of George Lucas, to stage a sci-fi battle, and 1/3 of a movie away from the home of sci-fi, space! The clever use of dis-association helps drive home the impact of the battle of Hoth. Futuristic machinery coupled with an enviromnent we can all relate to makes for a visual feast. I always wanted to paint something along a similar vein, a dramatic battle with plenty of detail and action all fighting for space on a crowded canvas. What you see here is a WIP depicting the rebel defences being preped ready for the approaching walkers the calm before the storm kind of thing. I doubt I will ever get this finished due to my career/job situation (I need a new one...). But try and imagine this pic with about 400% more detail in the mid ground and your on your way to seeing the completed image.

I'd really like to see this one finished! Your depiction of depth is spot on!
