Awesome work! My only critique would be about the actual direction of the treads... shouldn't every other strip be pointing in the opposite direction?

The tread looks very nice for a texture. I thik the only way you are going to improve the appearance would be to model each tread. As far as direction of the tread, it depends what tire brand he is using. some are made like that.
