Description

I took a few shots of this weird moth-like bug with mesh-like wings and then dumped it into a spider-web. The spider is tiny and I was surprised to see it take this "moth" down with ease. The "moth" is about as long as the diameter of a quarter. It's pretty cool to watch the whole thing unfold behind the lens. It's like a high quality nature film that isn't filming and that I will never see again.

What a sadist you are Matt :oP As a kid i was already fascinated by spiders, i used to look for little insects to throw into the web lol Fascinating to see a spider catch and 'package' their prey !! Excellent work here !! V

incredible shooting!!! the entire shot, with the pail colours and lighting makes it an eerie scene, even the dof gives it a sense of life fading, a massive "V"

I am shocked.....that Macroist have such scant regard for Life...and read of someone in the Paper who had put a Baby Possum into the Zoo's Lion Cage...to get a good Shot...the Person went to Prison...maybe this is how it started ;]

I'm a bit in doubt of such pictures. A lot of nature photographers, even famous-ones, do a lot of tricks to make a good shot! This wasn't your first intend ... On the other hand we kill a lot of insects only because we don't want them in the house. So this one served some purpose after his death me think. Oh what the heck... this is going to end in some nasty discussion, which is even worse :) We all surf on a thin line .....

Spiders are wonderfully efficient little killing machines.... So I must be as bad as you then.. I once knocked bugs off a door just so I could watch the frog on the ground eat them up.... hehehe....
