wow! I mean this, most people didn't use surfaces on their first try, or 3D clouds either - good 1st one - set the render quality on your atmosphere a bit higher and you'll see the difference - keep trying out those surfaces - one of the nice things (and most addictive) about Terragen is that you can click the mouse a few times and then render something that just floors you - welcome to the feeling

Cool 1st post! 3D clouds are tricky, you should stick with 2D at first. Try creating more surfaces layers on your terrain with matching colours, and play with the fractal noise/bump & mimic terrain settings, you'll see big changes on your terrain! Good one!

I would set the cloud contrast a little bit lower and maybe the darkening too. The grass layer coverage setting is too high and the green maybe a little bit to intensive. I would try more difference in the RGB sliders. Good "trying" !

This is an excellent first try at Terragen and you have chosen a great POV ! The 3D clouds are difficult at best so agree with bruno to keep away from them at first ! The secret with Terragen is "lots of layers" !!!!! Use several layers with small variations in color and you will come up with some incredible scenery. BTW your bump settings are excellent ! Also Terragen does better surfaces with larger renders so it is almost essential to buy the registered version which BTW is quite reasonably priced. Welcome to Terragen and rest assured that you have done well for a first ! Congrats !

well done on your first one!!I agree with all of the above, use the slope and height controls in your parent and child layers for you surfaces, be prepared for looooooooooong render times;)still an excellent first!!

Very nice terrain and composition. You have the beginnings of a good surface. Add more layers! The clouds look good. You did better than most people with them.
