Description

Inspired by the Tuareg, the blue men of the Sahara, so-called for the deep indigo dyes used in their veils (only the men wear the veil). For centuries the nomadic Tuareg were undisputed kings of the desert, but in the last few decades they live in poverty, the caravane trade being taken over by trucks and lorries and great draughts threatening them. The French colonisation made an end to their autonomy in the 19th century and dispersed them over 5 African countries. I tried to capture the mesmerizing look in their eyes. Thanks for viewing! I really like the shading, you've done some excellent cloth painting, and the eyes really stand out.

Very nice. And, just for the record, I don't know why anyone would associate them with the Taliban or Arabs. They are Saharans, and a very beautiful people of a variety of colors and types you couldn't find anywhere else.
