Description
Aka "Slow Thermometer", also known as a "Galileo's Liquid and Glass Thermometer".
An entry for the august challenge "glass", I found this object somewhat difficult to approach and not easy at all to get the picture I was attempting to capture.
Using a digital camera with a close up lens on a subject thats distorted by its very nature (glass suspended in a liguid held in a glass tube!), seemed to be somewhat challenging ;o). But thats what the challenges are all about, trying out new things and pushing out your own boat :)
A little colour manipulation in photoshop was needed to cool the image.

Super compo in this image. I think it would work better at about 70% of this size though. Other than that, wonderful.
