Description

Jeff Young and Joelle MacAlpine grew these flowers, two of my favorite growers from the SF Ferry Plaza Market. Jeff took this with his film camera, gave me a photo print and asked me to make something out of it. -*- With an entree like that, I thought I'd try some different and more radical techniques with Painter. I made the bottom color layer as a clone then painted over with Palette Knives and Smeary Bristles. Blotted out some background, and multiplied another clone layer made with the Sketch tool. Then picking the black Sumi-e brush, scratchboard tool, and Leaky Pen, a third layer was multiplied in for this result. I wanted the pen lines to be 2D and stand out but still have some of a 3D form. -*- Thanks for viewing, and for your comments!

Excellent illustrative touch. Everything you put your hands to always ends up as engaging and inventive. This has an extremely realistic watercolor effect to it with a slight asian look to it. Intended or not, it has several styles I can identify and it is most excellent. VOTEEEEEE!!!!!

Wonderful...I can only echo the words of garyandcatherine, plus that the pen lines really add definition in the right places. I think its these pen lines that give the image an asian look.
