Description

This is the Tree of Life. In it's branches and surrounding garden are 320+ animals. It is quite the puzzle to find them all, and unfortunately one photo is only a small amount of them, but how many can you find? A little history to answer DarkElegance's question. The Tree of Life was carved from real wood by many different artisans at Disney Imagineering. But like all good jigsaw puzzles, each piece was really not seen by the others until they were fitted on to the steel internal mesh that surrounds the 3D theatre in it's base. That structure is actually modelled after an offshore oil rig which goes to show you that artists are certainly imaginative. The Tree of Life Gardens also contains many more of the 320+ animals and the queue line for it's Tough to be a Bug gives the waiters much time to find them. I had a hard time figuring out what category this goes in. Maybe we need a sculpture one. I put it in architecture, because it is, but it's not. :) The Tree of Life is the centerpiece to Disney's Animal Kingdom taken on my trip there in February taken with my Olympus C740UZ digital. I would have maybe cropped it a bit on the right side to even it out, but wanted to give the chance to see the animals on the side too. Thought you might enjoy this. Didn't get much time to render this week, but if you haven't already check out The Paint and Render Club. My life is back into hectic mode again, I've given up on trying to predict it anymore.

I am in awe of this wonderful artwork and your photo. So very much I would love to see it, but it is a long way from Sweden to Disney's Animal Kingdom, so I enjoy your image instead!

How fun to get up close. It looks like lots of people had lots of fun - and - certainly some angst to get this finished... glad I'm not the stuckee who had to finalize the 3D arrangement, hooee! My hat's off, to a curvilinear composite of immeasurable intricacy.

An exceptionally beautiful capture. Thank you for sharing this, saw it on TV but will never see it up close and personal. This is the most beautiful work that I think has ever been done for Disney. Awesome!!
