I've very recently upgraded from tS 3.2 to tS 5.1 and it's a whole new world!
Between finding my way around the new UI and getting my head around the various 'new' (new to me any way) tools and features, I came up with this image which I'm quite pleased with so far.
Background: Nebula made with Photoshop 6 (would you believe 18 different layers?), stars from Celestia. The planet is simply 3 spheres, a blue one for the oceans, terrain made with an orthographic image from Terragen (transparency mask made with PS6) and the cloud layer was "borrowed" from Celestia as a temporary measure till I make my own clouds. Moon Texture also from Celestia.
Any feedback or comments welcome.

It would be good if you could get a nice soft fuzzy sphere as an atmosphere - maybe fake it in photoshop?

as floyd once said, welcome to the machine :) The new tools at your disposal now will prove very valuable, I actually think it's sometimes better to have had to work within limits so you can better appreciate the power of the new tools in a way that you wouldn't have had you just started with the latest version. [ie. I actually used 2.5 photoshop before layers even happened, and to get a simple dropshadow was a trick you did with alpha channels hehe :)] see you in the forums, and keep up the great work! - Suede

Wonderful! I especially love the solar eclipse that tribe in the North East hemisphere is experiencing! ;) Looking good!
