Description
Part of an ongoing series exploring digital technology and decorative art.
Digitally produced Panel. Motifs made from scans of various burl wood veneers, sheet mother of pearl and custom metallic Photoshop layer styles. Large format archival digital print mounted and laminated to masonite.

It would be interesting if the wood wasn't kaildosoped or repeated but of a non repeating organic wood texture.

Thanks for your comment! It is organic wood veneer that I scanned in. I agree, the wood grain textures are beautiful in themselves and I can't wait to do more with them. I matched grain patterns puposely to acheive symmetries, which is a longstanding tradition in decorative arts. As opposed to pictorial marquetry, this was more an attempt at pattern making with repeat motifs. I think of this piece as an ornate ceiling tile or a small tabletop, something like that.
