Description
Apophysis 2b21, PSP
Phlebas the Phoenician, a fortnight dead,
Forgot the cry of gulls, and the deep sea swell
And the profit and loss.
A current under the sea
Picked his bones in whispers. As he rose and fell
He passed the stages of his age and youth
Entering the whirlpool.
-T.S.Eliot "The Waste Land"

** So strong again, Jack. What a powerful addition to the TSE poem, or is it the other way round ? Amaaazing stuff!!

Amazing synergy between the image and the poem (old TS again). Very strongly evocative: I see the now unseeing eye of Phlebas looking up from the seabeds as the currents wash the wreckage of his ship and his life and pick his bones; perhaps even the whirlpool. Outstanding impressionism! VOTE Rik
