Description
This place is located in Western Massachusetts right off a main highway in a busy area! Funny thing is that as soon as you near the house, you no longer hear the traffic. Nor any birds or insects. The house was built in the late 1930's by a couple, who still owned the property back in the 80's when I lived near there. When I stopped by to do some sketching because I had heard rumors and loved the look of the place, the owner stopped by. He had built a new home further down the road. I asked him if he would ever consider selling the place and he looked appalled at the idea and adamently refused, telling me that it was to remain in the family all through future generations. He said little else, other than tell me not to enter. I was already acquainted with one of the neighbors through a friend who told me that the man and his wife had no sooner built the house, went out one night, came home and then they deserted the place, telling everyone that kids had broken in and destroyed the place. I peeked in the windows and saw that there was only a hard-packed dirt floor. Everything else had been left behind, including furniture to rot with age. As I walked around the house outside I noticed something peculiar--all the windows were broken..not too unusual...except that all the glass lay scattered OUTSIDE the house! Every one of them including the upstairs (hard to see in the photos). It was like the house blew outwards but there was no indication of a fire or explosion on the walls or woodwork/doors, etc. I researched what I could and no one had an explanation for the strange behavior of the couple to just up and leave and never go back, then to keep it without selling as it's prime commercial property! The local kids are scared to death of the place as well as the adults. No teens enter to hang out and get away with stuff unseen--usual for the area. Strange sounds, eerie lights and sounds of glass breaking are all reported by neighbors, one a reputable landscaper!

First thing I thought - "I know this house." I was really surprised to read it was in Mass! I've been to that house - I swear it! But I've never been in Massachusetts! Very cool I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures and see if they bring any other thought to my head!

Wonderful photography here! Great shot indeed!!
Metonicus
In the foreground, there is a patch of brighter green foliage than the rest. Right above the highest part there is a face with an open mouth looking to the right. Was that on purpose?

I'm intrigued, too. It's all very strange indeed Actually when I look at the foilage to the right of the brightest green foilage I somehow see many heads, like skulls. They're small and must be an illusion. But still somehow very creepy. CC

This is a great photo, partly because of the story behind it, and also because I went looking for the face that Metonicus was talking about, before I got to that, I saw several other faces in the foliage.
