Description

Xenodream, no pp, PS6 for frame. This one's for you Rik, I guess you will recognize this instantly. For those who are wondering, it is the opening set for "Through the Looking Glass (and what Alice found there)" by Lewis Carroll. I had to make some choices concerning the chess pieces. I could have constructed them in a more classical way, but I chose to make my own interpretations. Think the Rook and Pawn (Alice) are self explaining, as might be the two Queens at the bottom. The two pieces on the left at the tophalf are my Kings, the two pieces on the right my Knights. Also gave some reflection in the back to mimic the title of the book, and let the chessboard float very gently above the surface, to show that the adventure has begun. Also, I could have rendered this even longer until I got very smooth surfaces and pieces, but since this particular game is being played all over again since 1896, I thought a little wear an tear would be appropriate. Pfffw, that must be my longest explanation of a work ever... LOL Thank you so much for viewing and all of your comments. Dirk

Well done!!!!!!!! Excellent depiction and the pieces are so intricately depicted. Well the mad hatter has me now, in his grasp, I am full of the double talk of his coherent friends :D Always late for a very important date :D Excellent view!!!!!

What an outstanding image Dirk! This perspective must have been difficult to work with and you got all the angles just right! The lighting and shadow are superb, a most impressive image. I love the height and shadow on the black and white stones on pink marble! A most fascinating image. Belated congratulations!!!
