Description

A few people I have known, although unrelated to each other, and at different times, have voiced the opinion to me (usually during a spirited discussion of the meaning of our existence)that if re-incarnation exists, then we are constantly coming back in order to "learn a lesson" that we take with us to the next, well, whatever depending on your beliefs. This bothers me, because I'm very stubborn and it takes me longer to warm up to mature ideas than other people- perhaps I'm doing a kind of "spiritual remedial course" over and over. Which got me thinking- what if, even though you failed life, you might be offered a "makeup course" to get you moving on. That is the idea behind this image- these steadfast individuals, although long past caring, are in a concentrated study course on a subject they are now well aquainted with - Infinity. They are the last of there class- true diehards. All the others have long since retired to the adjacent cemetery. The latin on the building says it all- "Either learn, or leave". But how do you ever finish a course who's subject has no end? A true dilemna. If they can succeed, they will be returned to- well, I'm not sure. Models and textures are by me, except the book, fence, and the stone benches are from Baument, helmet from R'osity freebies, and St. Paul's and the gargoyle from 3D Cafe. I took special note of the many great suggestions and comments on my previous work, and I am working hard on lighting and texture improvements; I hope you get some enjoyment from this picture as I had a good time making it. Personally I think reincarnation is nonsense. I appreciate conceptual images though as we need to escape the boring routine. The poses are great too!

Does a recycled bottle come back as a better bottle? Fascinating concept and depiction.

And if we are reincarnated...is it our energy, memory, what? I'll let "them" figure it out, I got just enough time for this life! Great philosophical concept and render!

I looked long time to this image and it made me think about. What may be a better compliment to an artist, that his guest is really thinking about the artist's work and imagination? Well done!

Thanks all- wasn't trying to get too "heavy" with the thinking- just thought it was an interesting way to look at the subject.

this was an unexpected surprise, wouldn't have guessed from the thumbnail...I quite like this for the technical reasons, the orb in the center with it's reflections and glow, the scene itself is fantastic, also enjoyed reading your thoughts, something to think about, excellent work!
