Description

On this altitude (2300 m) different flowers bloom compared with those in the valley. The stemless carline thistle (Carlina acaulis) with shiny silvery petals that feel like being made of paper is one of these typical alpine flowers. The scientific name a-caulis means it has no stem, as you can see. Enjoy these sunny flowers! Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

They are very unique and beautiful! They remind me of some of the cactus flowers we have around where I live. Lovely work, JC ((((Hug)))))

It sort of reminds me of a desert cactus flower, but instead of the low altitude arid/dry environment, this plant survives in the oposite type environment. It never ceases to amaze me all the different varities of plant life this Earth supports...Praise be to God! (lol) I just read WiserAngel's comment...great minds think alike ya know...
