Description

This was supposed to be my challenge entry (August Challenge) but I thought that it lacked fantasy to do a diamond ring and I never got the reflection on the top of the ring to look like I wanted. All made in Lightwave by me.

Very nice. I like the way light plays through it, but I see what you mean about the light on top of the diamond. Good use of Depth of Field blurring, too. A question: are the imperfections on the ring done on purpose? My wedding ring was very smooth with no sharp edges like I see on this one. Nevertheless, a very good job. Bravo!

The diamond has a great texture on it. I like the other diamonds in the back. But i agree with mmitchell, the ring looks a little sharp, maybe rounding those edges would give a nice look. Either way its great.

I entered the contest for August, but I like your texturing of the diamonds better than I like the one I did. I spent a lot of time but could not get it to look like I wanted it to. Great job on the textures! My one criticism is that the stone itself does not seem to be modeled after a realistic stone (assuming realism is what you wanted). There are several gemological websites that have specs for facets, angles etc for ideally cut diamonds. Great job overall. Sorry if I am nitpicking.

I think the ring itself could use some work, but the diamonds are some of the nicest I've ever seen rendered, perod. Very surreal shapes, but the effect is one of a ring the likes of which you've never seen...!

Outstanding work on the diamonds. I agree with what was said about the ring band itself, but the diamond material is amazing. Great refraction and I'm assuming some of the advanced materials properties settings to get the right effect. Just the right level of transparency and translucency.
