Description

I wanted to comment on a certain posting from 9/2, but since the author appears to be afraid to allow comments, I decided to post my own piece in response instead.

I did not know no comments was meant to protect the TOS. There is something intrinsically frustrating and provoking in having your sensibilities thoroughly offended and being denied any sort of direct response. If you accept that idea, even if you accept it only marginally, then turning off comments is provoking and rude. Shame on Renderosity for pulling the post and not pulling the comments which violate TOS. Seems wrong, somehow. I can't help but mention the fact that this administration seems to have the same sort of attitude. W says he does not owe the country or anyone any sort of explanation for his actions. He can do what he wants, cuz he's the president, see? This administration is more shrouded in secrecy and non-disclosure than any other in the short history of our nation. Can anyone think of any other governments that relied on secrecy, non-disclosure and the idea that they can do as they please without explanation or recrimination?

www.swiftvets.com Just go to Kerrys' own site, 3 certificates for one medal. Also, the navy does not award the Silver Star with a V. Kerry can't handle the truth!

Wow! Talk about touchy subject mater! Regardless of wether your work gets pulled down or not you should have the guts to allow comments! Those who are really interested will seek it out before it gets pulled. I also believe that the comments should be pulled and not the artwork. Hiding behind no comments isn't going to change that it just makes you look like your afraid of opposition.

True Hero? I think not! A true hero would not seek the limelight by accusing his comrades-in-arms of war crimes... If Kerry was so upset by it, why didn't he try to do something about it while it was happening? I normally don't post comments on this kind of thing, as I don't believe that it belongs on an art site. This is not art, it is political commentary. You've posted yours, and now you have mine.

THANKS for the courage to show this! I took it as current wallpaper on my PC and it gives me the hope that the US is not lost.

This is not artwork but political only. You are in the wrong site may be.

I agree with reflash that this is not art & doesn't really belong here, but as long as the two folks who keep posting lies & distortions about John Kerry without allowing comments keep doing it, I feel somebody needs to refute them. When they stop, I will too. And I don't buy the argument that they're not allowing comments because of the lack of civility from the other side - that's just a convenient excuse for people whose flimsy arguments won't hold up under the scrutiny of honest & open debate. As for the anti-Kerry comments above, I find it interesting that people continue to argue that Kerry didn't REALLY earn his medals & that he didn't spill ENOUGH blood to earn his purple hearts & that he had the temerity to say that war crimes were commited in Vietnam (have these people never heard of My Lai? Or maybe the more recent example of Abu Ghraid? Does anyone really think that denying the reality of these atrocities helps our troops or our standing in the world?), but conveniently don't comment on the other half of the piece I posted - George Bush's cowardice. Watch 60 Minutes on Sunday to hear the former Lt. Governor of Texas admit with shame that he allowed George Bush to sneak into the National Guard to avoid combat in Vietnam. What a courageous leader we have!

shakes head And again, let's disparage the National Guard. What a shame. I guess asking for a one year deferal and then enlisting in the RESERVES and specifically requesting NON-Combat means nothing? ALL documented, by the way. Look, the fact of the matter was that John Kerry was there. As were many other fine soldiers. But, John Kerry gets to disparage the reputation of many men that WERE NOT involved in war crimes (as he confesses he was) and that DID stand up at the time against their brothers-in-arms at the time and stayed clean. Unlike Kerry who waits until he is home, makes up stories that are "seared" into his memory and then recants and reshapes those stories when the facts are revealed. As for one artist, he posts Kerry's OWN WORDS. Argue with Kerry over his words, not the artist. As for comments, they are not hiding. I have written to Renderosity myself as have others and we have all gotten the same response. THEY pulled the work due to the comments (baiting, animosity, too much arguing, etc etc etc). It may seem like hiding, but it is not. One artist on his bio page specifically welcomes PMs to discuss his work. I can give a flying fig if you are a Dem or a Rep or Inde. Use your heads and actually read more than what already agrees with your point of view. The fact of the matter is that legitimate vets have raised questions, but because those questions are not supportive of the "status quo" they are disparaged and ripped apart. Kerry made accusations against these soldiers/sailors and they should be allowed to defend themselves. Oh, and this is not new. I know that two of these Swiftvets have been speaking out about Kerry since the early '70s. The group finally realized no one was going to listen to their lone voices and banded together. Do they have some Rep backer monies? Yes. Of course, MoveOn.org and other organizations on the other side have Dem backer money (and people who work for the Kerry campaign but won't resign as the Rep's have). If you want to do away with Swiftvets, do away with MoveOn, too. You can't have your cake and eat it to. Sorry for the rant, but I get sick of folks being insulted for having the courage to think for themselves and to defend the Vietnam vets that did not commit atrocities and those that stopped atrocities at the time from happening because THEY had courage. Not commit the crimes and then run in front of a gov later and confess your own crimes and try to tarnish EVERYONE else with your dirt in the process to get some press time and make a name for yourself. You can not say the military is "baby killers" and "war criminals" and then wrap yourself in your Vietnam war record and the US Flag that those "baby killers" have fought to protect throughout history. Oh, and in case anyone has forgotten, we were ASKED to come into Vietnam by a foreign country to help protect their interests in the country and they then turned tail and ran, leaving us holding the bag!!! There are two sides, and sometimes even more, to each story. Kerry's is not the total truth and neither is Swiftvets. The real truth is somewhere in the middle and it needs to be told. Sorry if so many are upset that the Vietnam Vets are tired of taking this beating from the likes of Kerry, but I say it is about freaking time they get their chance to speak. Even if so many don't like what they are saying because it does not fit into their neat, tidy, little boxed perception of the "atrocity" of the Vietnam war. GO VETERANS!!!

The real heros are the men and woman fighting to protect our way of life. The attack on the world trade center was the single most devastating event to occur both to our economy and sense of security. Kerry is standing on a platform that we can not afford the war on terror. Bush stands on the side that says we can not afford not to defend our freedom and way of life. Kerry want's to wait so we can get hit harder. Why don't you go hide with Kerry come out when the work is done.....
